Get the Most from your Adhesive – and Make it Last!

It’s a fact – lashes will fall out regardless of how effective your adhesive is. It’s part of the natural growth cycle! However, lash extensions really should be able to stick in place until the lash naturally grows out and falls off. If your clients are losing a lot of lash extensions before the lash grows out, it may be that your adhesive isn’t as effective as it could be.

Making your Adhesive Last

Lash adhesive should be replaced every six months. However, to keep your adhesive performing at peak efficiency during those six months, consider the following tips to make your adhesive last:

· Store glue in a cool, dry area, as heat and humidity affect glue and decrease its efficiency

· Be sure to keep the nozzle clean – see below for some pro tips!

· Always shake the adhesive well for 30 seconds before each use

· Avoid light, heat, and moisture

· Consider keeping glue in a dish of cool water during appointments to improve consistency

· Do not store the glue in the fridge as this may result in condensation inside the bottle unless you store it in rice

· Always follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for storage!

Keeping the Adhesive Bottle Clean

When it comes to making adhesive last, keeping the bottle and nozzle clean is key. What you use to clean the nozzle is equally important. The main ingredient in lash adhesive is cyanoacrylate. When you clean your adhesive bottle, never use cotton swabs, paper towels, or Q-tips. These products create an exothermic reaction, which results in increased heat that may damage or lessen the efficacy of the glue. To clean the glue bottle:

· After every application, wipe the nozzle with a dry makeup applicator sponge

· Do not wet the sponge; this results in polymerization around and possibly in the bottle

· Use quick circular movements; do not hold the sponge in place
