The holiday season is around the corner, and you know what that means…it means everyone is going to want their lashes done. What’s more, is that they are all going to want them done in roughly the same two-four-week period. If that’s not overwhelming enough, there’s something else to consider – all your clients will want their lash appointments during the very time that you may find yourself incredibly busy with your own hustle and bustle and merry-making! While it's overwhelming and busy, it’s also great for business, and entirely manageable with a few time management hacks.
Getting Ready to Get Clients Looking Great
It’s inevitable, clients want to have a fresh fill or brand new fresh, fluffy set right before Christmas. They are all going to be looking for appointments in roughly the same period, and it’s a narrow window. Below, we’ve included a few tips to make sure you can get everyone in, and no one is disappointed.
Tip 1: Consider expanding your hours or appointment openings
If your lash extension business is a side hustle, try adding appointment availability in the morning before work for a few weeks, or taking a few appointments a little later than normal so you can fit them all in. For those of you that lash full time, you can add new appointment times too. Advertise these as exclusive holiday hours! Remember to tell your clients to book ahead to avoid disappointment.
Tip 2: Check your appointments and check again
When you’re booking your holiday appointments, be sure to diligently record all appointment times, dates, and client information to avoid double bookings. This exercise will also help you identify available time.
Tip 3: Look for pockets of time!
Check your appointment book for small gaps that might accommodate a fill client. Or use your pockets of time to run your own holiday errands. Either way, find a way to identify and capitalize on those hidden blocks of time.
Tip 4: Regulars get priority during the holidays
New clients are amazing, but you’ve got loyal regulars you need to look after this holiday season. Make them a priority. It doesn’t mean you stop taking new clients. It only means that you don’t take a new client during your peak busy season at the expense of a regular looking their best over the holidays.
Tip 5: Avoid burnout
It’s your holiday too. Look after yourself by ensuring you still schedule time for self-care, personal appointments, and family connection time. Set boundaries and commit to them. Be sure that you plan a holiday closure so that you have time for yourself. Tell your client early and often that your business will be closed on specific dates through the holiday season so that they can plan and book accordingly.
Balancing Your Time this Holiday Season
It goes without saying that your services are going to be in higher demand than usual during the holidays. And that’s a good thing! We entrepreneurs spend so much of our effort focusing on creating demand that it is sometimes hard for us to dial it back and spend time connecting with family and even reconnecting with ourselves.
This holiday season don’t forget to give yourself the gift of time. While building and growing your lash business is your goal, you must also remember to give time to those who support you: friends, family and loved ones. Take a big marker, and cross off some dates over the holidays – those dates are hands-off. They’re not for clients, they’re for you. And that’s the best gift you can give yourself this holiday season.
